■520    ▼aThe  purpose  of  this  dissertation  is  to  discover  a  biblical  way  of  integrating  spirituality  and  church  management.  The  church  is  the  body  of  Christ  and  it  can  be  managed  well  only  in  the  Spirit  of  Christ.  The  Bible  reveals  no  intrinsic  incompatibility  between  human  diligence  in  managing  the  church  and  dependence  on  the  Holy  Spirit.
■520    ▼aThe  history  of  the  church  discloses  dangerous  loopholes  for  church  leaders  in  either  under-managing  or  over-managing  the  church.  Some  leaders  are  unconsciously  escaping  the  responsibility  of  diligent  management  of  God's  church  by  condemning  church  management  as  reliance  on  human  strength.  To  another  extreme,  some  other  leaders  imprudently  adopt  business  management  techniques  into  the  church.
■520    ▼aThis  study  will  be  divided  into  five  chapters.  The  first  chapter  will  explain  there  is  such  a  need  for  spirituality  in  church  management  nowadays.  Four  theological  perspectives  on  spirituality  and  church  management  will  be  introduced  and  commented  upon.
■520    ▼aThe  second  chapter  attempts  to  lay  a  biblical  foundation  for  church  management.  Studies  will  focus  on  how  the  four  Old  Testament  figures,  Joseph,  David,  Ezra,  and  Nehemiah  organize  and  manage  their  ministries.  The  management  of  God  of  the  twelve  tribes  in  the  desert  and  the  management  model  of  the  New  Testament  church  will  also  be  discussed  in  this  chapter.
■520    ▼aChapter  three  will  look  into  the  relationship  between  church  culture  and  patient  envisioning;  goal  setting  and  hope  in  God;  strategic  planning  and  obedience  to  God.  Chapter  four  highlights  the  ministry  of  developing  the  gifts  of  the  people  of  God  the  most  important  task  in  church  management.  Lastly,  chapter  five  will  explore  working  relationships  and  teamwork  dynamics.
■520    ▼aThe  goal  of  this  paper  is  to  reconcile  church  management  and  the  sovereign  work  of  the  Holy  Spirit.  It  is  of  significant  importance  that  the  servants  of  Christ  actively  and  diligently  rule  the  church  according  to  the  divine  plan,  and  at  the  same  time  be  led  consciously  by  Christ  me  be  led  consciously  by  Christ  through  His  Spirit.
