초록/해제
요약 : The purpose of this ministry focus paper is to present a theology and strategy for developing the First Baptist Church of Springfield (FBCS) into a community of spiritual leaders equipped to incarnate Christ in one of the least-churched regions of the United States.
초록/해제
요약 : With 134 years of history, FBCS might be a principal force for Christ in this community. Instead, a legacy of discord, decline, and limited leadership weakened the church by discouraging growth, undermining community, and assigning ministry to a few. Concurrently, the surrounding community became predominantly “unchurched” and resistant to the Gospel. As a result, at the very time our neighbors need spiritual guidance, most of our church folk declare, “I'm a follower, not a leader.”
초록/해제
요약 : Since 1988, FBCS has purposed to become a relevant spiritual presence in our contemporary setting. To date, the congregation has committed to implementing the Great Commission in every venue of life and is mobilizing around a mission statement that accentuates spiritual growth, outreach, and leadership development. A shift from an emphasis on positional leadership to an “every disciple is a leader” paradigm is also underway. These commitments must now be embedded in the congregation's culture by means of a plan that is theologically sound and tailored to our context.
초록/해제
요약 : This paper will be divided into four parts. The first part will identify the specific context and need of FBCS. A detailed examination of the congregation's setting will be presented, along with a survey of the FBCS story. Particular attention will be given in Part one to specific challenges FBCS faces in seeking to be faithful to Christ.
초록/해제
요약 : The second part will present a theology of spiritual leadership and make the case for developing Christ followers into spiritual leaders. Building upon Jesus' call to make disciples and live as salt and light in the world, spiritual leadership will be described and distinguished from positional leadership. Then, a design for spiritual leadership will be explained, utilizing an adaptation of Dr. Patrick Lattore's “diamond model” of leadership as a framework.
초록/해제
요약 : The third part will supply strategies for growing FBCS into a community of spiritual leaders. This involves stimulating every person to mature as a leader by attention to spiritual formation through the practice of spiritual disciplines in the context of Christ-centered small groups and intentional spiritual friendships. To achieve this, the congregation must give priority to spiritual disciplines, small groups, and spiritual friendship. Three chapters will focus on these commitments, providing biblical foundations and substantive application to the FBCS context, current practice, and future direction.
초록/해제
요약 : Part four will then offer a four-year plan of implementation for restructuring the life of FBCS around leadership development. This will involve specific programs, measurable goals, and workable action plans consistent with the needs and theological principles previously presented.
초록/해제
요약 : In summary, the goal of this paper is to provide a viable and theologically responsible plan of transformation that will equip every disciple to be a spiritual leader who influences others to live their lives in obedience to Christ.
