■520    ▼aThis  dissertation  examines  Robert  E.  Logan's  systems  approach  to  North  American  church  multiplication  movements  in  relationship  to  Roland  Allen's  missiology  of  the  spontaneous  expansion  of  the  Church.  Chapter  1  discusses  the  brief  history  of  the  research  concerning  Allen  and  Logan.  This  chapter  discusses  the  influence  of  Logan  on  North  American  church  planting  and  the  influence  of  Allen  on  church  planting  outside  of  North  America.
■520    ▼aChapter  2  discusses  the  missiology  of  Roland  Allen.  The  most  significant  issues  of  his  missiology  as  related  to  the  spontaneous  expansion  of  the  Church  are  discussed:  ecclesiology,  pnuematology,  indigenous  churches,  and  role  of  the  missionary.  Secondary  topics  such  as  native  education  and  volunteer  clergy  and  non-professional  missionaries  are  also  addressed.  Since  other  scholars  have  discussed  the  biography  of  Allen,  I  have  chosen  to  omit  this  topic  from  the  discussion.
■520    ▼aChapter  3  discusses  the  foundations  for  the  systems  approach  to  church  multiplication  movements.  The  first  half  of  this  chapter  is  a  biography  of  Logan.  The  latter  half  of  the  chapter  describes  his  missiology.
■520    ▼aThe  fourth  chapter  is  a  description  of  the  systems  approach  to  church  multiplication  movements.  The  origins  and  evolutionary  development  of  the  paradigm  are  discussed.  Specific  detail  is  given  to  the  ten  systems  which  compose  the  contemporary  systems  approach.
■520    ▼aChapter  5  offers  a  critique  the  systems  approach.  A  few  similarities  and  differences  between  Allen's  and  Logan's  missiologies  are  listed.  This  chapter  discusses  the  strengths  of  the  systems  approach  and  the  challenges  which  hinder  it  from  resulting  in  the  spontaneous  expansion  of  the  Church.
