초록/해제: 요약 : School of Theology, Fuller Theological Seminary The purpose of this Ministry Focus Paper is to present a theology and implementation strategy for fostering the growth of passionate spirituality at Oakbank Baptist Church (OBC), both at the personal and corporate levels. Spirituality is set forth as the measurable consequence of specific awareness accompanied by acquired skill.

초록/해제: 요약 : OBC is a congregation with a one hundred year history of highs and lows including a church split two decades ago. Still the church has been blessed with a committed core of believers who have had a focused vision and desire to reach their community. It has seen an increase in its influence and is currently experiencing its highest levels of attendance. In 1998 a youth pastor was brought on staff to join the senior and visitation pastors. In 1999, a second Sunday worship service was added with overall attendance gradually increasing. Plans for a gymnasium addition are supported in principle and are currently in committee.

초록/해제: 요약 : Notwithstanding these positive indicators, the church body overall is at a low ebb of passionate spirituality. This is readily confirmed by a number of factors: general lack of spiritual hungering and thirsting, a nominal commitment to stewardship (financial and otherwise), an inconsistent reflection of Christ-like character in conduct and speech, an apathetic attitude toward worldliness, little aspiration to leadership and minimal desire for involvement in church life. An appropriate theology and strategy is therefore set forth to address and overcome this lack of passionate spirituality, which not only inhibits effectiveness but could also result in the collapse of at least a portion of the OBC ministry.

The first section offers a detailed analysis of the church and surrounding community (including the broader Canadian and Manitoba context) investigating the social milieu out of which the church has grown. Past history as well as future projections—for both community and church—expose the underlying need.

This part of the study shows that the call of God to holiness identifies the essence of ministry as holy living rather than perfunctory performance. Furthermore it will be shown that the consequence of the call to holiness is an all-consuming passion from God and for God that affects every aspect of personal and church ministry.

초록/해제: 요약 : The third section presents strategic plans for fostering the growth of passionate spirituality within the OBC body. The personal aspect will be considered first since the body cannot corporately reflect that which is lacking in the individuals who constitute it. Specific recommendations and plans are included that are consistent with the church and community profile in section one and the theological principles outlined in section two. Evaluative tools are proposed to aid in ongoing growth.

초록/해제: 요약 : The goal of this paper is to provide a theologically and strategically integrated plan to develop passionate spirituality. This project is therefore designed to equip and mobilize a passionate people to reach a needy community.
