요약 : This study assembles a knowledge base concerning the cross-cultural congregation-to-congregation relationship of two local churches: Madison Square Christian Reformed Church in Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA and the Providence Baptist Church in Monrovia, Liberia. The knowledge base includes the perceptions and experiences of what it means for both congregations to be in this cross-cultural relationship. It also analyzes recurring themes and patterns among the perceptions and experiences along with members' willingness to mutually give and receive.

요약 : The methods I have chosen to explore in identifying participants' perceptions and experiences are those traditional to ethnographic fieldwork, including participatory observations, surveys, interviews, group discussions and questionnaires. These methods are invaluable to providing information and perspective on the participants and the degree to which their respective congregation's mission and vision have shaped their historical contexts, their lives, mission potential, and their ministry opportunities.
초록/해제
요약 : The findings from this study include the following: (1)Participants discern this relationship to be mutually beneficial and rewarding for both congregations. (2)Participants perceive this kind of relationship as one that enhances cooperation, shares experiences, and shares resources of prayer, ideas, funds and travel. This sense of cooperation promotes the strengthening of the body of Christ through relationships among congregations in different cultures and nations. This relationship enhances the participants' understanding of the boundaries and mission of the local church and a more global perspective of God. (3)Participants recognize this relationship to be beneficial in expanding and enriching personal faith and discipleship, and in challenging the Christian life of members of both congregations. This research has shown that cross-cultural experiences can lead to increased cultural awareness and a culturally cosmopolitan outlook.
초록/해제
요약 : Given the delimitation of the study, it is recommended that further research be done to study the possibility of cross-cultural transfer of faith-based solutions as ministry models for both congregations and how they contribute to long term sustainable and developmental changes in the lives of individuals and their communities.
초록/해제
요약 : Overall, this research has engendered a better and more informed understanding of the ministry on several levels, including theological, practical, pastoral, social, political and congregational.
