■520    ▼aThis  quantitative  study  investigated  the  relationship  between  eating  disorders  and  separation-individuation  problems  in  a  convenience  sample  (N  =  209)  of  female  high  school  students.  Although  there  is  an  acceptance  among  theorists  of  a  relationship  between  these  two  constructs,  there  has  been  minimal  empirical  evidence  presented  to  substantiate  this  hypothesis.  The  Eating  Disorder  Inventory-2  (EDI-2)  and  the  Separation-Individuation  Test  of  Adolescence  (SITA)  were  used  to  identify  intrapsychic  factors  which  define  these  concepts.  The  present  research  findings  supported  the  proposed  relationship,  contributing  to  the  knowledge  base  in  this  area.  Demographic  observations,  study  limitations,  and  implications  of  these  results  were  discussed.  Recommendations  for  supplemental  research  were  also  presented.
