Thesis (Ph.D.)--Dallas Theological Seminary, 1999.
초록/해제
요약 : The term 'sinner' is found seventeen times in Luke compared to five times in Matthew and six times in Mark. There is at present no scholarly consensus on the identity of the 'sinner' in the Synoptics. This study seeks to examine the term 'sinner' and its use in the Gospel of Luke.
초록/해제
요약 : The study has six chapters. Chapters one and two identify various ways of viewing the Synoptic 'sinner' and trace the history of interpretation of the term.
초록/해제
요약 : Chapter three examines the term 'sinner' in Hellenistic and Jewish literature from the OT, Apocrypha, Pseudigrapha, and Rabbinic materials. The antonym 'righteous' serves as a key to understanding the 'sinner' concept. The 'sinner' is one under the wrath of God because he has violated the will of God.
초록/해제
요약 : Chapter four demonstrates how Luke prepares his reader for Jesus' mission to 'sinners' by presenting him in terms of fulfillment of OT promises of salvation. Isaiah provides Luke's programmatic texts for the missions of John the Baptist (Luke 3:4; Isa 40:3-5) and Jesus (Luke 4:18; Isa 61:1-2 and 58:6).

요약 : Chapter five examines the 'sinner' in the Gospel of Luke. The 'sinner' for Luke is a moral category rooted in OT concepts. He has violated the revealed will of God in respect to God or his neighbor and is guilty, a condition presented by Luke as perilous. The 'righteous' are those who are obedient to the law of God, waiting for the consolation of Israel, and open to Jesus. Jesus is presented especially as the Servant-Herald of Isaiah and the Davidic Shepherd of Ezekiel. For Luke, Jesus' mission to rescue 'sinners' reveals him to be the Messiah, confirms his credentials, and thus contributes to Luke's aim of narrating 'fulfillment' and providing 'assurance' (Luke 1:1-4; 7:21-23). Luke portrays the Pharisees as resistant to Jesus because of his claim to forgive sins and his association with 'sinners'. Yet for Luke, this is also viewed as fulfillment.
초록/해제
요약 : For Luke, Jesus was the fulfillment of OT promises of salvation which would be experienced through the forgiveness of sins and was universal in scope. Isaiah's promise that 'all flesh' would see God's salvation (Luke 3:6; Isa 40:3-5) would include genuine repentant 'sinners' within Israel and even repentant Gentiles at the 'ends of the earth'.
