요약 : Joe Albert Bush, Sr., Senior Minister of a historical African-American congregation presently situated in the heart of a predominately Hispanic community in the South Bronx, New York, focuses on Developing a Sense of Community Through the Process of Facilitating the Organization of a Community Economic Development Corporation to function under the auspices of the Walker Memorial Baptist Church. The author carefully examines the Biblical and theological warrants for the church's interest, active involvement, and participation in community economic development and revitalization issues and concerns, with hopes of inspiring the congregation to organize and sponsor a community economic development cooperative to address some of the social and economic needs of the immediate South Bronx community in which the church is physically located.
초록/해제
요약 : The author is convinced that such an organization would place the congregation in a position to embrace a much broader and more holistic approach to Christian Ministry, greatly enhancing the visibility of the church and its ministry, as the church becomes a major player in the liberation, transformation, and empowerment of the local community.
초록/해제
요약 : The critical question for the author is: Can a historical, traditional African-American congregation, situated in the heart of a Latino American community, become the catalyst needed to foster the sense of community so vital to community renewal, development, and survival?
초록/해제
요약 : The author is solidly convinced that any congregation, irrespective of its ethnic or cultural make-up, can, indeed, become the catalyst for positive community change and economic empowerment, if the congregation is willing and able to look beyond its own ethnic and cultural identity to its deeper "spiritual" or "religious" identity as the people of God, wholly committed to the total liberation, transformation, and empowerment of human society.
초록/해제
요약 : While the end goal of this project is to lead the congregation to carefully consider the prospects of organizing and sponsoring its own community economic development corporation, the project itself is limited to educating the congregation on the validity of the church's interest, active involvement, and participation in community economic development and revitalization issues and concerns.
