요약 : Theological understanding of the efficacy of remembering and meaning of Christian Baptism was the goal of this D.Min. Project. Too often I found adults returning a second, and sometimes third time for Baptism; because they did not remember their Baptism as an infant or child. The challenge of bridging the gulf between infant and childhood Baptism and adult actualization of a faith relationship with God and Christ made quite the difference in the end.
초록/해제
요약 : Discovery from the Process revealed that several truths bear themselves out as inherent parts of the A.M.E.'s can learn well from basic Methodist theology the significance of Baptism at any age. Baptism is an outward sign of a spiritual and inward grace; and not something that happens when one is immersed under water.

요약 : The gulf turns out to be this Project entitled A Ritual of Confirmation in the A.M.E. Church: Re-Discovering Decision Day.

요약 : It is possible however, for one to make this declaration; and consequently the decision much earlier than adulthood. Undergoing a study designed for adolescents that re-introduce them to the thing done for them in infancy and introducing to them the thing possible in adolescence bridges the gulf.
초록/해제
요약 : The main discovery of this Project is the importance of remembering. The Biblical foundation for the Project suggests that the A.M.E. Church must begin to re-introduce the phenomenon of Decision Day. It must be taught as it was practiced before, as a way of remembering all that Christ is doing, has done, and will do. The Sacraments, Baptism and Holy Communion were inseparable in African Methodist tradition. The teaching on their meaning was minimal or mis-interpreted, thus excluding many from the Lord's Table and full participation in the life of the church.
초록/해제
요약 : The process of discovery and the writing of this Project in its final form are both worthy of invaluable measure to our tradition. It is hopes that this labor is not in vain.
