Rediscovering our baptism (Scotland)

초록/해제: 요약 : This final project is an investigation of what members of a modern Church of Scotland congregation think about their own baptism, if indeed they think about it at all and a comparison of what they believe with what the Scottish Reformers of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries thought that Church members ought to believe about their baptism. The significance of the comparison is that the writings of the Scottish Reformers embody the official position of the Church of Scotland today.

초록/해제: 요약 : The researcher also discovers that the story of baptism held by members of his congregation is distorted by a view of the Church and of the world which has changed significantly over the centuries following the reformation, leading the congregation to feel that the baptism of its children is diminished in value when believers from outwith the membership of the congregation approach the Church for the baptism of their children. This has, in turn, led the Church of Scotland to change the regulations regarding infant baptism and this has led the Church still further from the role identified for it by the reformers.
