■520    ▼aThis  dissertation  deals  with  the  theme  of  renewal  and  spiritual  maturity  as  experienced  in  the  life  of  individual  Christians.  It  is  the  result  of  a  lifelong  pursuit  as  well  as  a  study  of  both  and  an  awareness  of  the  problems  resulting  from  spiritual  immaturity  in  the  life  of  many  Christians.  This  dissertation  also  addresses  the  problem  of  spiritual  immaturity  and  presents  a  solution  in  the  form  of  a  comprehensive  ministry  project  called  the  "School  of  Applied  Renewal"(S.O.A.R.),  which  is  aimed  at  leading  believers  into  renewal  through  spiritual  maturity.  The  relevant  literature  supports  the  fact  that  many  Christians,  even  though  they  may  have  been  Christians  for  many  years,  remain  spiritually  immature.  It  also  reveals  that  education,  exhortation,  equipping,  and  encouragement  can  make  a  significant  impact  on  helping  Christians  to  grow  in  the  area  of  spiritual  maturity.
■520    ▼aThe  ministry  project,  the  "School  of  Applied  Renewal"(S.O.A.R.),  is  a  curriculum-based  strategy  to  address  the  problem  of  spiritual  immaturity.  Four  keys  to  spiritual  maturity  are  presented  in  the  training  program.  Two  major  components  of  the  project  were  the  testing  and  analysis  of  the  participant's  level  of  understanding  and  knowledge  in  relation  to  key  elements  of  spiritual  maturity.  Eighty  five  percent  of  those  tested  indicated  a  need  for  personal  renewal  and  80%  signed  a  personal  commitment  form.  As  a  result  of  S.O.A.R.,  94%  of  the  participants  felt  they  were  more  confident  about  their  relationship  with  God.  One  of  the  goals  of  S.O.A.R.  was  to  see  an  increase  in  knowledge  among  the  participants.  There  was  a  43%  increase  in  knowledge  about  God  the  Father  and  the  Holy  Spirit,  and  a  32%  increase  in  knowledge  about  the  Son.
■520    ▼aAn  essential  part  of  the  ministry  project  was  also  the  development  of  the  School  of  Applied  Renewal  Manual,  which  can  be  used  in  any  church  setting  to  encourage  and  help  individual  Christians  grow  toward  spiritual  maturity.  The  manual  was  designed  in  such  a  manner  as  to  be  suitable  in  a  variety  of  settings  for  teaching  the  keys  to  spiritual  maturity.
