초록/해제
요약 : The purpose of this dissertation is to discover the influence of the Niagara Bible Conference and Adoniram Judson Gordon on Malcolm Fenwick and Korean Baptist missions, and to evaluate that influence from a missiological, strategic, and theological perspective. The conference functioned for Fenwick as a kind of seminary; that is, it was the meeting in which Fenwick formulated his theological precepts, especially his eschatology, ecclesiology, and bibliology. Meanwhile Fenwick's training in missions was accomplished through the Boston Missionary Training School, under the leadership of Gordon who was the pastor of Clarendon Street Baptist Church of Boston. These two great streams of thought had a huge impact upon Fenwick and his followers.

요약 : The basic sources used in this dissertation include the primary sources in English of the most influential premillenarian journals in the nineteenth century such as The Truth, a monthly journal edited by James Brooks (1875--1897), and The Watchword, which Gordon wrote and edited from 1878 to 1895. Much of the material in the Korean language consists of Fenwick's writings as follows: The Church of Christ in Corea (1911) and Life in the Cup (1917), two books that Fenwick wrote during his missions; Sakyungkongboo [Bible Study]; Talpyunji [Monthly Epistle]; Pyunkongboo Yonsul [Address of Fenwick]; Manminchounkyuipyul [Good News for the People]; and Pokumchanmi [Gospel Hymns].
초록/해제
요약 : The first chapter provides Fenwick's biographical information, explains in brief his missionary work in Korea, and discusses his missionary paradigm. The second chapter researches the contributions of the Niagara Bible Conference to Fenwick's theology. The third chapter examines the contributions of Gordon to Fenwick's missions. The last chapter evaluates the influence of the Niagara Bible Conference and Gordon on Fenwick and Korean Baptist missions.
초록/해제
요약 : Fenwick, who had no educational training or denominational support, was clearly a missionary-innovator because, compared with the fruits of other missionary labor, his fruits were second to none. During the time of his mission work, Fenwick left a double inheritance to Korean Baptists: strengths and weaknesses. The one must be succeeded to his associates and the other must be reinforced with a contextually criticized strategy. Otherwise, Fenwick left a priceless philosophical heritage of faith missions, indigenization, and regions-beyond missions, rather than the visible inheritance of schools and hospitals to Korean Baptists. His contextualized missionary strategy could inspire and influence another missionary innovation in the twenty-first century.
