■520    ▼aThis  dissertation  was  a  study  of  pastors  that  serve  in  a  Black  American  Southern  Baptist  Church  context,  in  particular,  the  Baltimore  Baptist  Association,  located  in  Baltimore,  Maryland.  Eighteen  Black  American  pastors  were  mailed  and  asked  to  complete  a  researcher  designed  questionnaire  that  sought  to  examine  the  effectiveness  and  use  of  Nouthetic  Counseling  theorized  by  Dr.  Jay  Adams.  Of  the  eighteen  pastors,  thirteen  pastors  completed  and  sent  back  their  questionnaires  to  the  researcher  and  their  responses  were  analyzed  through  a  qualitative  study.  There  was  also  a  minimal  quantitative  study  to  further  clarify  the  results  of  the  data  collected.  Baseline  data  was  collected  and  analyzed  for  further  research.
