■520    ▼aChristian  missions  is  experiencing  an  exponential  surge  in  praying,  giving,  and  personal  involvement.  This  phenomenon  gained  momentum  as  the  twentieth  century  ended,  and  continues  to  escalate  in  the  beginning  of  the  twenty-first  century.  Personalization  is  one  catalyzing  factor  kindling  this  surge.
■520    ▼aOn  15  August  1995  the  now  International  Mission  Board  of  the  Southern  Baptist  Convention  entered  a  "Covenant  of  Cooperation"  with  Global  Focus,  of  Woodstock,  Georgia,  to  facilitate  mobilization  in  SBC  churches.  This  dissertation  examines  selected  features  of  this  covenant.  It  investigates  the  covenant's  designs,  goals,  and  successes.  Cooperative  Program  gifts,  Lottie  Moon  Christmas  Offering  giving,  and  strategic  partnership  figures  are  studied  to  validate  or  refute  pastoral  testimonies  and  Global  Focus  declarations.  This  treatise  also  examines  the  rise,  ministry,  and  effectiveness  of  Global  Focus.
■520    ▼aThis  dissertation  consists  of  six  chapters.  Chapter  one  provides  the  introduction  to  the  study.  Chapter  two  is  an  overview  of  the  history  of  the  way  Southern  Baptists  have  funded  missions  giving.  It  concludes  with  a  discussion  of  the  now  International  Mission  Board's  rationale  for  initiating  the  covenant.  Chapter  three  discusses  the  background  of  faith  missions  which  leads  up  to  the  origin  of  Global  Focus.  It  includes  a  biographical  sketch  of  Larry  Reesor,  President  of  Global  Focus,  and  the  reasons  Global  Focus  entered  the  covenant.  Chapter  four  studies  churches  which  employed  the  principles  taught  by  Global  Focus.  Chapter  five  considers  the  potential  for  churches  which  embrace  personalization.  Chapter  six  is  composed  of  the  author's  conclusions.
■520    ▼aThe  author  concludes  that  implementing  the  approach  taught  by  Global  Focus  can  impact  catalytically  a  church's  missions  giving,  going,  and  praying.  A  year-round  emphasis  on  planning,  promotion,  and  personalization  will  facilitate  increased  missions  involvement.
