요약Problem. This study sought to ascertain the relationship between the personal religiosity score of adult Preachers' Kids (PKs) and the predictor variables of adolescent stressor intensity level score, coping activity score, and quality of the relationship with the father score. It also sought to ascertain the difference in perception of adolescent stressor intensity level score, coping activity score, and quality of the relationship with the father score between adult PKs and their fathers who were pastors of Georgia Baptist Convention churches.
Abstracts/Etc
요약Procedures. A random sample of Georgia Baptist Convention pastors was selected and contacted to determine if they met study criteria and would participate in the study. Pastors who qualified provided phone numbers of their adult children. PKs were contacted to determine if they would participate. Questionnaire packets containing the Religious Coping Activities Scale (RCAS), Parent Evaluation Scale (PES), Stressors of Clergy Children Inventory (SCCI), and Personal Religiosity Inventory (PRI) were mailed. A multiple linear regression and t-test for paired samples were used. A total of 146 pastors and 314 adult children participated in the study.

요약Findings and conclusions. A multiple linear regression found that RCAS and PES (but not SCCI) were significant predictors of PRI for PKs at p ≤ .001. A t-test for paired samples found that fathers' means on the RCAS and PES (but not SCCI) were significantly higher than PKs means at p < .001 (2-tailed). Fathers and PKs viewed stressors and intensity levels similarly; however, fathers viewed PKs' religious coping activities and relationship with the father more positively than did PKs. T-tests and one-way ANOVAs conducted with demographic data for PKs found significant differences based on gender, times moved, living in a parsonage, influence of father toward or away from religion, and being a religious professional.
