■520    ▼aThe  purpose  of  the  dissertation  was  to  analyze  the  effect  that  the  area  of  service  in  which  a  chaplain  ministered  had  on  the  occupational  stress  levels  of  Southern  Baptist  health  care  and  military  chaplains.  The  sample  population  was  composed  of  full-time  Southern  Baptist  health  care  chaplains  (N  =  25)  and  active  duty  military  chaplains  (N  =  35).  The  Occupational  Stress  Inventory,  Revised  (OSI-R)  was  used  to  measure  three  areas  contributing  to  occupational  stress  levels:  Occupational  Roles  (ORQ),  Personal  Strain  (PSQ),  and  Personal  Coping  Resources  (PRQ).  A  researcher  designed  Demographic  Data  Sheet  (DDS)  was  used  to  gather  demographic  data  on  the  samples.  The  study  found  that  there  were  differences  in  the  sources  and  levels  of  stress  experienced  by  health  care  and  military  chaplains.  Predictors  of  vocational  strain,  psychological  strain,  interpersonal  strain,  and  physical  strain  were  also  identified.
