요약 : Problem. The problem of this study was to determine the difference in learning style characteristics, as measured by the Grasha-Riechmann Learning Style Scale, between graduate students attending Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary who enrolled in a web-based course, and those enrolled in an equivalent on-campus course. In addition, it was a problem of the study to determine the difference in grade achievement and learning style characteristics, as measured by the Grasha-Riechmann Learning Style Scale, between graduate students attending Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary who enrolled in a web-based course, and those enrolled in an equivalent on-campus course.

요약 : Procedures. The Grasha-Riechmann Learning Style Scale was administered to graduate students enrolled in equivalent web-based and on-campus courses. With a sample size of 243, the mean score of each learning style characteristic of all web-based and all on-campus sections was determined. With the level of significance set at .05, an independent sample t-test was conducted on each learning style characteristic pair.

요약 : For the second research question, one-way and two-way ANOVA's were conducted using grade achievement as the dependent variable and course type and each learning style characteristic, measured either high, medium, or low, as the independent variables. The level of significance was set at .05.

요약 : Findings and conclusions. The t-test for independent samples revealed one learning style characteristic was significantly different between those attending on-campus course sections and those attending web-based equivalents. Students taking web-based courses tend to be more independent in their learning style preferences than their on-campus peers.

요약 : No significant F-ratio was found for any of the six ANOVA tests. No interaction existed between learning style characteristic and course type in regard to grade achievement. Analyzing the possible effects between course type and grade achievement, the results showed no significant difference between the type of course taken and a student's final course grade. Interpreting the effects of learning style characteristics on grade achievement, the variables Participant and Competitive exhibited significance. Individuals scoring higher on these learning style preferences acquired significantly higher final course grades.
