■520    ▼aThis  study  is  a  Burkeian  analysis  of  the  playscript  The  Laramie  Project  written  by  Moises  Kaufman  and  the  members  of  the  Tectonic  Theater  Project.  The  study  focuses  on  three  characters  (Baptist  minister,  Reverend  Fred  Phelps,  and  Father  Roger  Schmit)  and  uses  Burke's  dramatistic  pentad  as  a  framework  for  analysis  of  their  views  on  gay  male  and  lesbian  sexual  orientation  contained  in  the  playscript.  From  the  analysis  of  the  characters,  three  distinct  levels  of  consubstantiality  relating  to  their  views  are  discovered,  and  the  pentadic  scene  appears  to  dominate.  The  analysis  suggests  in  a  larger  sense  that  the  playscript  may  identify  with  its  audiences  by  asking  them  to  reconsider  views  on  gay  male  and  lesbian  sexual  orientation.  Suggestions  for  future  research  are  provided.
