■520    ▼aProblem.  The  problem  of  this  study  was  to  determine  the  difference  in  Integrated  Faith  Maturity  Scale  scores  and  Daily  Challenges  Inventory  percentages  between  youth  from  Baptist  General  Convention  of  Texas  churches  who  are  home  schooled,  and  those  who  are  conventionally  schooled.
■520    ▼aProcedures.  The  Faith  Maturity  Scale  and  the  Daily  Challenges  Inventory  were  administered  to  youth  in  Baptist  General  Convention  of  Texas  churches  that  have  students  in  both  home  based  and  conventionally  based  educational  settings.  A  total  of  283  usable  surveys  were  scored  with  228  being  conventionally  schooled  and  55  having  had  at  least  some  years  of  home  schooling.  A  t-test  for  independent  samples  was  used  to  measure  differences  in  Faith  Maturity  Scale  scores  and  one  sample  t-tests  were  used  to  find  differences  between  Daily  Challenges  Inventory  percentages  across  the  two  groups.
■520    ▼aFindings  and  conclusions.  The  t-test  for  independent  samples  found  no  significant  difference  in  any  measures  related  to  the  Faith  Maturity  Scale  (p  =  .05).  The  one  sample  t-test  revealed  significant  difference  on  fourteen  items  of  the  Daily  Challenges  Inventory.  The  home  schooled  group  was  significantly  less  likely  to  watch  MTV,  use  drugs,  lie  to  a  parent,  teacher,  or  other  older  person,  attempt  suicide,  drink  enough  alcohol  to  be  legally  drunk,  or  gamble  with  their  money  (p  =  .05).  Home  schoolers  were  also  significantly  less  likely  to  describe  themselves  as  too  busy,  stressed  out,  angry  with  life,  confused,  or  always  tired  (p  =  .05).  Conventionally  schooled  youth  were  significantly  more  likely  to  describe  themselves  as  upbeat,  encouraged,  and  seeking  answers  (p  =  .05).
■520    ▼aGender  was  a  significant  factor  in  11  DCI  items  with  females  less  likely  to  watch  an  X-rated  movie,  view  a  pornographic  magazine,  physically  try  to  hurt  someone,  or  gamble  (p  =  .05).  Females  were  significantly  more  likely  to  describe  themselves  as  too  busy,  stressed  out,  always  tired,  and  temperamental  (p  =  .05).  Females  were  also  significantly  more  likely  to  describe  themselves  as  being  upbeat  and  respected  by  others  while  being  significantly  less  likely  to  mistrust  people  (p  =  .05).
