■520    ▼aProblems.  The  first  problem  was  to  determine  the  difference  in  Faith  Maturity  Scale  scores  across  "years  of  study"  and  two  "programs"  of  English-speaking  seminary  students  at  two  Baptist  seminaries  in  East  Africa.
■520    ▼aThe  second  problem  was  to  determine  the  relationship  between  an  FMS  score  and  three  demographic  predictor  variables.  The  predictor  variables  were  age,  marital  status,  and  years  of  study.
■520    ▼aProcedures.  The  total  population  of  one  hundred  and  forty-eight  English-speaking  students  in  the  two  seminaries  were  included  in  the  survey.  One  hundred  and  forty-four  students  completed  the  FMS.  The  research  instrument  contained  twenty-four  items.  Twelve  of  the  items  measured  the  student's  vertical  dimension  of  faith  maturity  (student's  relationship  with  God),  while  the  other  twelve  items  measured  the  student's  horizontal  dimension  of  faith  maturity  (student's  relationship  with  other  human  beings).  For  the  first  problem  an  ANOVA  model  was  used  to  test  the  significance  of  the  differences  of  FMS  scores  across  the  "years  of  study"  and  "two  programs."  For  the  second  problem,  a  multiple  regression  model  was  used  to  test  the  significance  of  the  three  predictor  scores  on  the  FMS  scores.
■520    ▼aFindings  and  conclusion.  The  statistical  analysis  revealed:  (1)  There  were  no  significant  differences  in  vertical,  horizontal,  or  combined  faith  maturity  scores  across  "years  of  study"  and  "two  programs."  (2)  Age,  marital  status,  and  years  of  study  were  not  significant  predictors  of  vertical,  horizontal,  or  combined  faith  maturity  scores.  However,  age  contributed  positively  to  vertical  faith  maturity,  while  marital  status  and  years  of  study  contributed  negatively  to  all  the  three  scales.  The  results  seemed  to  indicate  either  of  the  following  postulates:  (1)  The  curriculums  of  the  two  seminaries  do  not  foster  spiritual  formation.  (2)  The  Faith  Maturity  Scale  does  not  measure  spiritual  formation  precisely  enough.  (3)  Students  entering  the  two  seminaries  are  already  spiritually  mature.
