■520    ▼aThe  purpose  of  this  study  was  to  determine  the  frequency  of  selected  health  promotion/health  ministry  (HPHM)  activities  and  resources  offered  at  Jacksonville  (Florida)  area  Southern  Baptist  churches  (JSBCs).  Determining  the  prevalence  of  health  promotion  programs  and  resources  offered  among  regional  churches  provides  an  indication  of  their  significance  as  community  heath  promotion  providers.  This  study  obtained  survey  responses  from  church  representatives  to  establish  the  number  of  JSBCs  which  provided  selected  HPHM  activities  and  resources.  The  sample  included  all  Jacksonville  area  churches  (N  =  228)  posted  on  the  Southern  Baptist  Convention's  membership  directory,  taken  from  http://sbc.org  on  March  4,  2002.  The  four  levels  of  intervention  used  in  this  study  were:  (a)  level  one,  communication  and  awareness  activities;  (b)  level  two,  screening  and  assessment  activities;  (c)  level  three,  educational  and  lifestyle  activities;  and  (d)  level  four,  behavior  change  support  activities.  (Abstract  shortened  by  UMI.)
