■520    ▼aThe  purpose  of  this  study  was  to  examine  the  effect  of  an  educational  program  on  the  psychological  adjustment  to  disability  and  knowledge  of  women  with  multiple  sclerosis  in  the  Commonwealth  of  Pennsylvania.  The  study  utilized  an  experimental  pre  and  post-test  design  and  included  women  (N  =  145)  with  multiple  sclerosis  who  were  registered  members  of  the  National  Multiple  Sclerosis  Society.  The  study  examined  four  research  questions:  (a)  "Is  there  a  relationship  between  participation  in  the  Healing  from  Within  Program  and  knowledge?",  (b)  "Is  there  a  relationship  between  participation  in  the  Healing  from  Within  Program  and  psychosocial  adjustment  to  disability?",  (c)  "Is  there  a  relationship  between  socioeconomic  status,  race/ethnicity,  educational  level,  duration  of  illness  (years  ago  diagnosed  with  MS),  and  illness  severity  (description  of  MS  symptoms)  and  knowledge  of  MS?",  and  (d)  "Is  there  a  relationship  between  socioeconomic  status,  race/ethnicity,  educational  level,  duration  of  illness  (years  ago  diagnosed  with  MS),  and  illness  severity  (description  of  MS  symptoms)  and  level  of  psychosocial  adjustment?"  An  ANCOVA  was  conducted  to  examine  the  first  two  questions  and  found  non-significant  findings.  A  multiple  regression  was  conducted  on  the  last  two  questions  and  found  that  MS  severity  was  found  to  be  statistically  significant  in  question  three  and  MS  severity  and  SES  were  found  to  be  statistically  significant  in  question  four.  Information  on  the  limitations  of  the  study,  implications,  and  directions  for  future  research  and  practice  are  also  included.
