초록/해제: 요약 : This study attempts to construct a Christian soteriology in dialogue with The Awakening of Faith in Mahayana (AFM). It is structured around "the ground of salvation," "the savior figure(s)," and "salvation itself" as three main subjects of soteriology. The One Mind is the AFM's major symbol for the ultimate ground of salvation. The One Mind is conceived to be related to the world in two ways. On the one hand, It is externally related to the world. Tathagata-garbha is the symbol referring to the One Mind in this aspect. Tathagata-garbha is immanent in all human beings as the ultimate cause of enlightenment. As there is no time when Tathagata-garbha is not immanent in all of us, all of us have original enlightenment. Salvation consists of realizing this original enlightenment through several expedient means including meditation. The One Mind, on the other hand, is internally related to the world. The One Mind, in this respect, includes the world. Amitabha Buddha is the symbol referring to the One Mind in this aspect. Amitabha Buddha always accepts all beings with infinite compassion. One can experience the infinite compassion of the One Mind as inclusive through meditation on Amitabha Buddha. The AFM does not deal with the One Mind as inclusive as fully as it deals with the One Mind as immanent. The soteriological meaning of Buddhas consists in embodying the One Mind and re-presenting It to other sentient beings.

초록/해제: 요약 : God is the ultimate ground of salvation according to Christianity. The most fundamental nature of God is love. The God of love is conceived to have internal and external relationship with the world. The AFM's dipolar conception of the One Mind is appreciated as similar to our conception of God which depends upon Charles Hartshorne's neoclassical theism. The symbols of "the Redeemer" and "the Sanctifier" are employed to refer to the salvific meaning of God as inclusive and the salvific meaning of God as immanent respectively. Salvation as our authentic existential state has both vertical and horizontal aspects. Salvation in its vertical aspect consists of faith in and love of God the Redeemer and Sanctifier. Faith in and love of the Redeemer according to the Christian faith is comparable to meditation on Amitabha Buddha according to the AFM. Faith in and love of the Sanctifier is comparable to enlightenment according to the AFM. Salvation in its horizontal or ethical aspect consists in loving God's beloved creatures who are always loved by God in conformity to the love that God shows us. Jesus Christ is interpreted as the yuan (connector to the ground of salvation) for the Christian economy of salvation, re-presenting the redeeming and sanctifying love of God which is the sole ground of our salvation.
