■520    ▼aThere  are  many  themes  that  provide  the  bases  of  assurance  of  salvation  in  the  Old  Testament.  God's  people  in  the  Old  Testament  had  the  assurance  of  salvation  in  their  lifetime  through  God's  covenant,  God's  election,  God's  character,  and  encountering  God  collectively  and  individually.  The  New  Testament  provides  abundant  bases  of  assurance  of  salvation.  We  can  have  assurance  of  salvation  from  God's  sovereignty  and  His  promises,  Jesus  Christ's  life,  work,  and  teaching,  the  testimony  of  the  Holy  Spirit,  and  a  transformed  Christian  life.
■520    ▼aThe  Muslims  do  not  have  assurance  of  salvation  according  to  their  perspective  on  salvation.  Nobody  knows  the  final  will  of  Allah  in  the  Day  of  Judgment.  They  ceaselessly  try  to  do  good  works  to  obtain  their  salvation,  not  knowing  their  eternal  destiny.  For  the  Hindus,  salvation  is  basically  to  escape  from  endless  transmigration  through  realizing  the  original  status  of  the  self  from  the  non-self.  However,  nobody  knows  how  much  time  is  required  for  the  Hindus'  ultimate  liberation  because  they  believe  that  most  of  them  have  to  pass  through  repeated  transmigration  until  the  karmic  force  that  brings  about  transmigration  stops.
■520    ▼aWhereas  Arminianism  teaches  that  genuine  Christians  may  lose  their  salvation  and  be  eternally  lost,  Calvinism  strongly  asserts  Christians'  assurance  of  salvation.  About  fifty  percent  of  Bengali  Christians  do  not  have  the  assurance  of  salvation.  Strong  assurance  of  salvation  of  Bengali  Christians  can  be  a  useful  evangelism  tool  for  the  Muslims  and  Hindus  in  Bangladesh.
