초록/해제
요약 : This dissertation argues that the subunit Mark 2:1–3:6 reflects the sequence of the New Exodus (NE) as it is developed and expressed in Isa 57:14–58:14. This literary relationship is based on distinctive lexical, thematic, and theological correlations within an identical sequence of topics: (1) healing and forgiveness, (2) fasting, and (3) Sabbath keeping.
초록/해제
요약 : As a study of the Markan subunit, it proposes a coherent explanation for the arrangement of the material in Mark 2:1–3:6 based on Isaiah's NE. As a study of Isaiah's NE in Mark's Gospel, it proposes a NE background for a portion of the Gospel which had not previously been connected to Isaiah's NE.
초록/해제
요약 : The conflation of Exod 23:20, Mal 3:1, and Isa 40:3 in Mark's introductory quotation (1:2–3) evokes Isaiah's appropriation of the OT exodus tradition, signaling that his Gospel is to be understood in terms of Isaiah's NE. Isaiah 57:14, though not explicitly referenced by Mark, is integrally tied to the conflated quotation in Mark 1:2–3.
초록/해제
요약 : Significant links between Mark 2:1–17 and Isa 57:14–21 center on the themes of removing obstacles from the way, forgiveness, healing, and God's earthly presence. Mark 2:1–17 centers on healing, forgiveness, and Jesus' divine authority on earth; Isa 57:14–21 is the only OT context in which all these elements are associated. Mark 2:18–22 correlates with Isa 58:1–12 through the themes of fasting and God's NE presence with his people. These are the only passages in which fasting is discussed in Mark and Isaiah. Isaiah 58:13–14 provides a unique OT background for Mark 2:23–3:6 through the convergence of the distinctive elements of the NE Sabbath, eating grain in the fields, and Son of Man (SM) terminology. The comparison of Mark 2:1–3:6 and Isa 57:14–58:14 strongly suggests that they correlate with each other through an extended sequence of common themes addressed from a shared NE perspective. It may be plausibly concluded that Isa 57:14–58:14 provided Mark with a meaningful and coherent NE framework by which to arrange the diverse historical events recorded in 2:1–3:6.
