초록/해제
요약 : Although experiencing stress due to loss is universal, the cultural context within which such loss is experienced and the event that led to the loss are sources of different nuances of such experiences. Any effective ministry to persons dealing with loss, therefore, needs to be based on a pastoral theology which addresses these different nuances. This project focuses on investigating ministry to persons experiencing loss due to natural disasters, with its different nuances. It also addresses the issue of the cultural differences which exist in various situations (with their different nuances) in which such losses are experienced.
초록/해제
요약 : Using the event of loss due to a natural disaster in a particular third world cultural context, this work provides support for the claim that "pastoral theological models developed in one cultural context must be modified in order to be applicable in another situation".
초록/해제
요약 : The evidence is given by documenting the results of regular counseling sessions with members of the Keta community of Ghana in West Africa who had experienced property loss due to a natural disaster: sea erosion. These counseling sessions first used a pastoral theological model developed primarily (though not exclusively) with Western European and North American theories. The model was informed by such theorists as Jurgen Moltmann, John Bowlby, G. K. Nukunya, Paul Pruyser, Ezra Stotland and Roy Fairchild. Reflection on how effective this model functioned within the culture of the locus of ministry led later to a modified version: the operative model.
초록/해제
요약 : This work affirmed that in ministry to natural disaster victims in third world countries such as the community studied, the type of hope that can sustain victims is that which takes suffering and the particularities of the local culture seriously.
초록/해제
요약 : Conclusions drawn affirm the necessity of modifying pastoral theological models developed in one culture before applying them in another. At the same time it points to possibilities of using the operative model produced with appropriate adaptations to other settings.
