■520    ▼aThe  premise  of  this  project  is  that  reconciliation  between  estranged  parties  requires  confession  and  repentance  on  the  part  of  the  offender  and  forgiveness  on  the  part  of  the  offended.  Reconciliation  is  defined  as  restoring  the  relationship  to  its  former  level  of  love  and  trust.  Restoring  the  broken  trust  requires  both  parties  to  risk  hurt  in  order  to  rebuild  the  damaged  trust.
■520    ▼aThe  project  is  a  book  (Appendix  A)  and  a  study  guide  (Appendix  B)  that  leads  disciples  through  the  various  elements  in  an  effort  to  facilitate  reconciliation.  These  may  be  used  as  supplemental  material  for  pastoral  counseling,  a  small  group  study  or,  with  the  additional  material  provided,  as  a  congregational  spiritual  emphasis  campaign.
