요약 : The Gospels have a prominent place in New Testament studies as the core of the New Testament itself. They are foundational in relation to the other writings of the New Testament because they contain the proclamation of the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ and the record of His earthly ministry. Among the many stories, teachings, and issues present in the Gospels, one theme has always had prominence: the miracles of Jesus Christ. This dissertation attempts to shed more light on the study of miracles by looking at representative passages of the whole of Scripture, with a special focus on the four Gospels.

요약 : The motivation for such a study is twofold: to offer a biblical response to the contemporary understanding of miracles in light of the Faith and Healing Movement, and to reaffirm the reality of miracles today. This study focuses particularly on the Faith and Healing Movement in the context of Brazil. This movement is prominent in that country. The primary purpose of this work is to survey selected miracles of Jesus in the four Gospels in such a way that portrays the consistent manner in which God used the miraculous in Scripture.
초록/해제
요약 : The dissertation accomplishes four purposes in relation to the miracles of Jesus. First, this work demonstrates the consistent use of miracles throughout Scripture, particularly in the Gospels, as a means to an end. Second, it gives a fresh look at the purpose and significance of the miracles of Jesus; because scholars have generally given little attention to this fact, despite the amount of writing on the miracles of Jesus. Third, the dissertation considers the proper biblical background for the study of the miracles of Jesus, demonstrating God's consistent use of miracles in the Old Testament as a background for the New Testament. Fourth, this study compares and draws the implications of the biblical teaching on miracles in contrast to the general attitude toward miracles in contemporary Faith and Healing teachings, which generally view miracles as an end in themselves.
초록/해제
요약 : The dissertation further establishes the fact that God has consistently used signs and wonders as a means to an end. He has always used the miraculous to point to Himself for the purposes of authentication and even, at times, revelation. Thus, while reaffirming the biblical teaching concerning the miracles of Jesus, the study contrasts that teaching with the contemporary teachings of faith healers, which is diametrically opposed to the biblical teaching.
