요약 : Pope John Paul II delivered five years of talks at his weekly General Audience developing a theology of human sexual love as lived in the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony as an icon of the inner life of the Holy Trinity. In his Redemption of the Body and the Theology of Marriage, or The Theology of the Body, Pope John Paul II has given the Church a new integration of the teaching on love, sexuality and the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony which provides an “adequate anthropology” for the Church. This projects seeks to teach that anthropology and then tests to see if appreciation of the Church's teachings and the vocational meaning of the sacrament is enhanced by the Theology of the Body. Results were uniformly positive from a small sampling.

요약 : Variables tested included an understanding of sacraments as effective signs which make visible the invisible person of God. The nuptial analogy with a basis in the Letter to the Ephesians, chapter 5, was the second variable. The meaning of the human body, especially human sexuality, was the third variable and the fourth was a sense of marital vocation based upon the other three (evangelical imperative).

요약 : What differentiates this project from simply a class taught was the degree to which the material integrated and actuated teachings which most Catholics trusted to be true but never understood as true. The Theology of the Body provides a new horizon for understanding which provides breakthrough moments of integration of old formulas. The Theology of the Body enhances the level of trust in the teaching authority of the Church, a trust that is famously eroded in the Western world in the last half of the twentieth century. The data showed positive for these indications in all cases. This project has an admittedly small sampling, but provides a promising indication of the potential of the Theology of the Body to equip the faithful with a more effective understanding of the Gospel and the power and meaning of the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony as an evangelical witness and an essential part of the Church's mission.
