초록/해제
요약 : Homiletics, as a sub-discipline of practical theology, is a reflective theory of practice. It is the critical and constructive thinking that evaluates the Christian practice of preaching and suggests theological and methodological guidelines for that practice. It is concerned with the development both of Christian theology and the method of communication in preaching. With this purpose, homiletics demands comprehensive theological study. Friedrich Schleiermacher declared that practical theology is the crown of theological study because it presupposes everything else; it is also the element of theology that prepares for direct action.
초록/해제
요약 : Contemporary Korean theologians and church leaders are examining the form and content of contemporary Korean preaching styles as a way of self-reflection, since they believe that preaching is one of the significant factors reinforcing church growth. This period of self-reflection is motivated by two factors. First, there is stagnation in Korean church growth just as a young but maturing generation of Koreans has arrived at a critical spiritual crossroads. Second, the growing self-criticism among leadership has focused on contemporary preaching forms because there is an emerging sense that the core Christian message is somehow being compromised as preachers embrace such secular values and ideologies as capitalism and materialism in an effort to be relevant to a new generation.
초록/해제
요약 : This study will focus on culturally-sensitive listener-oriented approaches in homiletic theory in order to suggest ways in which the Korean church may address its unique ethnicity and cultural traditions without compromising the central theological message. I believe that a flexible homiletic strategy is possible because God's message to humanity can accommodate diversity and various capacities of human comprehension. Therefore, this dissertation will examine the overall socio-cultural context of Koreans to demonstrate the effectiveness of a new homiletical approach that may engage the contemporary listener.
