요약 : Since the inception of the position of Director of Christian Education (DCE) in The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod (LCMS) in the late 1950s there has been confusion over the kind of relationship that should exist between the senior pastor and the DCE who serve together on a church staff. The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between the leadership style and job satisfaction of LCMS DCEs and the senior pastors with whom they work with in a church setting.
초록/해제
요약 : A sample of over 800 participants from the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod was identified. All certified DCEs (n = 422) and their senior pastors who serve in a congregation were surveyed regarding their leadership style using the Styles of Leadership Survey (SLS) developed by Blake and Mouton (1968). Job satisfaction of the survey participants was measured on the Minnesota Satisfaction Questionnaire-Short Form (MSQ).
초록/해제
요약 : The packet of research materials was mailed to participants in June of 1999. Over a 13 month period of time 211 packets were returned, and considering the rate of attrition of DCEs during this time period this represented a 62% response rate from the target population.
초록/해제
요약 : Research results showed a significant difference (p = .0091) in the leadership style of DCEs and their level of education. There was also a significant difference (p = .0076) in the level of job satisfaction of DCEs in relation to the size of community in which they serve. DCEs in rural settings (population of 5000 or less) were less satisfied than DCEs who serve in larger communities.
