요약 : In the light of this analysis the thesis concludes that Rahner's prognosis about the future of dogma undergoes a significant development in his Vatican II and post-Vatican writings. From an emphasis on clearing away misconceptions about dogma, on reinterpreting the many dogmas so that their existential relationship to human life might be more clearly evident and on analyzing the processes of their development, Rahner turns to the hermeneutical task of reappropriating the central realities of faith within a new horizon on understanding. He advocates a more unified and mystical grasp of these realities so that they may function as the active inspiration toward Christian lives of love of God and neighbor in the pluralistic world-Church of the future.

요약 : Since the Enlightenment dogma has become and continues to be a pejorative word in the minds of many. The continuing critique of dogma represents a particular challenge to the Roman Catholic Church because of its strong dogmatic tradition. This thesis inquires into the possibilities for dogma today and in the future in the face of its many critiques. Karl Rahner was chosen as the subject for this inquiry because the issue of dogma has occupied a central place in his works from the beginning of his long theological career to its end. This thesis suggests that the development which it notes in Rahner's theological thinking about dogma represents somewhat of a paradigm for the journey of Roman Catholic theology from the period preceding Vatican II, through the Council days, to the present post-conciliar age.
초록/해제
요약 : To expose Rahner's developing contribution to the theology of dogma, the thesis examines four major and interrelated perspectives on his work on dogma: (1) his grounding of dogma in the relationship of concept and experience as this is expressed in his metaphysics of knowledge; (2) his view of the nature and meaning of dogma; (3) his understanding of the development of dogma; (4) his ongoing discussion of the existential impact of dogma in the lives of Christians.
