요약 : Concepts that are associated with liberation theology (solidarity with the poor, conscientization, praxis, biblical dependence and prayer, and liberation) provide together a lens that may give American educators a new perspective, and insight to understand, reflect, and act on the issues of poverty that are prevalent for a large cross section of American children. This lens views the world through the eyes of the poor, the marginalized, and the many nameless people that are in oppressive living, psychological, and social circumstances. In addition, this lens can also assist educators in reaching a different and perhaps new way of teaching those individuals who come from marginalized situations.
초록/해제
요약 : The concepts which are associated with iiberation theology have been incorporated into an organization called Fellowship of Christian Educators (FCE). FCE's emphasis is on establishing School Based Prayer Communities (SBPCs). The cultivation of spiritual and professional growth in a SBPC setting aids in the transformation and the raising of consciousness of educators, which may then impact instructional praxis and facilitate insight, sensitivity, critical understanding, and a greater solidarity with marginalized groups.

요약 : This study contributes to research by providing qualitative empirical data that determines that the language and action of liberation theology is valuable for school reform and that the thinking and language of liberation theology is also a useful source for curriculum praxis.
초록/해제
요약 : Through the interpretation of qualitative empirical data, a greater understanding of liberation theology in curriculum theory and praxis was generated. Multiple sources were used to gather data, including participant-observation, gathering field notes, audio-taping each SBPC meeting, and conducting interviews. The overall design of this study was emergent in so far as the themes developed during each SBPC meeting and across meetings. Even when a protocol was used as in the interviews, the questioning was open-ended. Throughout the use of interviews, narratives, interaction, and observations, opportunities for interpretation were developed. In addition, a thematic analysis of liberation theology in praxis was undertaken. These procedures were rooted in the study of a SBPC.
