초록/해제
요약 : This study uses narrative criticism to analyze two narratives: the Nehemiah Memoir, which recounts the rebuilding of Jerusalem after its destruction in 587 B.C. and the Rainbow/PUSH Coalition's Return and Rebuild Initiative after Hurricane Katrina in 2005. This research centers on the question: Does a narrative analysis of the Nehemiah Memoir and the Rainbow/PUSH Coalition's narrative show that rhetoric of rebuilding emerges from the unique cultural conditions of exile? The results of the analysis show the following themes: the condition of the people, the confession of wrongdoing, the call of a leader, the community in action, the challenge of opposition, a claim for rights of the people, credit for success, and a charge to remember. The researcher concludes that these themes constitute a rhetoric of rebuilding after destruction and exile.
