요약 : Counselor and counselee enter into a dialogical relationship in such a way that both affect, and are affected by, the other. Both are transformed through relationship. Introducing socio-economic-political realities into the counseling dialogue enhances the possibility of transformation being more complete.
초록/해제
요약 : God's Spirit is actively engaged in the human interaction and from the human relationship between counselor and counselee, transformation emerges. The transformational model for pastoral counseling which is set forth in this study has relevance for a wide variety of relationships in the broader praxis of pastoral ministry.
초록/해제
요약 : Intimacy and appropriate boundaries also exist in positive tension. Genuine relationship requires vulnerability. Boundaries ensure that vulnerability is safe and that counselors respond in ways which are beneficial to, and never at the expense of, the counselee.
초록/해제
요약 : The purpose of this dissertation is to develop a model for the pastoral counseling relationship as a means of transformation. The study focuses on the essential elements of transforming relationships and on a method of relating which enhances the possibility of transformation occurring.
초록/해제
요약 : The research begins by examining how transformation comes about in three pastoral care/counseling case studies. This work then explores insights gained from these case studies in light of John Calvin's and Rita Nakashima Brock's theological perspectives, Virginia Satir's and Murray Bowen's family systemic perspectives, Hans-Georg Gadamer's hermeneutical circle, and Katie Cannon's and Beverly Harrison's liberation process, known as the Dance of Redemption.
초록/해제
요약 : The study finds that grace, truth, emotional intimacy, and appropriate boundaries are essential to transformational relationships. Grace and truth are inextricably linked and exist in positive tension. From the counselor's perspective, grace means entering into, and finding ways of remaining in, genuine relationship with the counselee. At the same time, the counselor incorporates truth into the relationship, including intrapersonal, interpersonal, spiritual, and socio-systemic realities which can strain the relationship.
