요약 : After distilling the doctrine of the Holy Spirit from both dialogue partners, Congar and the Wesleyan Tradition, a comparison shows a common understanding of grace with implications for a common ordo salutis, particularly as the distinct missions of Christ and the Holy Spirit are developed. This dialogue has implications for theological method by taking seriously experience as a source for theology, and for ecclesiology and the praxis of ministry that flows from it. Even as Catholics have discovered a pneumatological ecclesiology through the recent developments before and after Vatican II, Wesleyan/Holiness theology would be benefited by assessing how such an ecclesiological probing could aid in their own self awareness. At the same time, the Roman Catholic tradition has much to gain from the experiential nature of the Wesleyan experience of immediacy and assurance of faith in the Spirit.

요약 : Pneumatology has come of age as a significant doctrine and methodology in systematic theology today. As a tool for ecumenical dialogue, the Holy Spirit promises to address the stalemate of theological discourse in the face of modern and post-modern developments in Christology and ecclesiology. Particularly, this study proposes that the dialogue between Roman Catholics and Protestants may be benefited by the connections they experience through the doctrine of the Holy Spirit. Yves Congar, a Roman Catholic theologian highly influential in the early ecumenics of the twentieth century, is chosen as a representative dialogue partner because of his singular contribution to pneumatology through his three-volume I Believe in the Holy Spirit, a cap-stone to a career breathed with the Spirit. The Wesleyan Tradition, an Anglo-Catholic stream of the Reformation, is chosen because of its emphasis upon experience as a source for theology and the role of the Holy Spirit in sanctification. This tradition is not merely represented by the brothers Wesley, but by their Holiness/Pentecostal heirs of the 18th and 19th centuries, and the subsequent developments in Charismatic theology.
