■520    ▼aThe  first  chapter,  "The  Holy  Spirit's  Empowerment  at  Pentecost,"  evaluates  the  distribution  of  the  Holy  Spirit  to  the  New  Testament  believers  on  the  day  of  Pentecost.  This  chapter  explicates  the  initial  empowerment  of  the  Holy  Spirit  after  the  ascension  of  Jesus  Christ.

■520    ▼aThe  introduction  of  the  dissertation  establishes  the  foundation  of  the  investigation.  It  discusses  such  issues  as  the  objective,  the  methodology  of  investigation,  a  background  of  the  book  of  Acts,  and  definitions  of  key  terms.
■520    ▼aThe  principle  conclusion  reached  from  this  study  is  that  the  writer  of  the  book  of  Acts  demonstrated  that  every  aspect  of  evangelism  must  be  founded  upon  and  fueled  by  the  Holy  Spirit's  empowerment.  Evangelism  is  not  a  human  effort  which  is  christened  by  the  Spirit.  It  is  all  the  work  of  the  Holy  Spirit  which  He  accomplishes  through  human  agency.
■520    ▼aThe  purpose  of  this  dissertation  is  to  evaluate  the  Holy  Spirit's  empowerment  for  evangelism  in  the  book  of  Acts.  Many  writers  have  noted  the  dominant  role  of  the  Holy  Spirit  in  this  book.  However,  few  scholars  have  devoted  an  entire  study  to  the  relationship  of  the  Holy  Spirit's  empowerment  and  evangelism.  This  is  surprising  since  the  Holy  Spirit  and  evangelism  are  so  closely  linked  in  Acts.
■520    ▼aThe  second  chapter  builds  upon  the  foundation  of  chapter  one  by  evaluating  "The  Holy  Spirit's  Empowerment  in  Preparation  for  Evangelism."  Nine  passages  in  Acts  have  been  delineated  which  directly  relate  to  the  Holy  Spirit's  work  in  preparing  a  person  for  the  evangelistic  task.  These  passages  are  analyzed  in  an  exegetical  and  theological  manner.
