- 요약 : Burial ceremonies among the Igbos constitute an important aspect of the culture, involving the distinctly Igbo "dead living ancestors." The formation of Igbo identity is connected to the rituals and arts that are closely associated to burial customs. The different types of traditional Igbo burial music, different funerary attire and other traditional objects that the deceased children may hold or possess during the ceremonies reflect the respect and close relationship between the mourners and the deceased. When the early missionaries came to Igboland, they condemned the burial ceremony and almost eradicated these rich and important elements of the Igbo culture.

- 요약 : Finally, this study will rest on a method of case examination, which will use a questionnaire to explore how traditional music is understood and how it might be incorporated more into the order of Christian burial. This thesis remains open-ended in terms of pastoral application. Its principles will be carried out in my ministry when I return to Nigeria.

- 요약 : The Igbo people of Nigeria are loosing their traditional cultural heritage to western culture. There is a growing concern among the leaders that something must be done to restore it. I want to revive the traditional Igbo burial music among the Ngwa people in Igboland. The method will be in three stages: attending, asserting and pastoring. I interview the Ngwa people and other Igbos, and the thesis will correlate those interviews with the historical, liturgical and pastoral tradition. My goal will be to identify who the Igbo people are, their burial customs and their history in relation to Christian evangelization.

- 요약 : The liturgical method will stress the principles of liturgical inculturation as they are clearly articulated in the documents of Vatican II and the theological discussion of liturgical reform following the Council. I will focus on the principle of dynamic equivalence and revision of practices, which can be tied to the reform of Vatican II and the other documents that have developed since then on liturgical inculturation.
