■520    ▼aFollowing  a  description  of  the  birth  of  Total/Mutual  ministry  in  the  Kokanee  Region  and  the  rationale  for  its  introduction  in  Diocese  of  Kootenay,  the  project  provides  a  theoretical  and  theological  framework.  Here  the  discussion  takes  us  back  to  the  biblical  documents  and  then  forward  again  to  an  exploration  of  contemporary  insights  and  more  global  developments.  An  analysis  of  the  data  gathered  then  enables  us  to  interact  with  the  'voices  of  the  people'  and  their  lived  experience  of  supporting  ministry  in  the  local  church  today.
■520    ▼aThe  immediate  context  for  the  research  is  provided  by  those  models  that  have  been  implemented  in  the  Kokanee  Region  of  the  Diocese  of  Kootenay,  within  the  Anglican  Church  of  Canada.  The  data  investigated  has  been  provided  by  the  willing  cooperation  of  those  team  members  offering  Total/Mutual  ministry  in  the  region  and  gathered  by  means  of  around-the-table  discussions  and  responses  to  a  detailed  questionnaire.
■520    ▼aThe  project  concludes  that  this  contemporary  rediscovery  of  the  priesthood  of  all  the  baptized  through  ministry  support  teams  has  the  potential  for  bringing  the  church  not  only  to  the  threshold  of  a  'new  reformation'  but  even  to  a  'new  Christendom'.
■520    ▼aThe  project  shows  how  Total/Mutual  teams  are  leading  the  church  to  the  rediscovery  and  re-application  of  biblical  perceptions  of  'priesthood'.  The  New  Testament  applies  this  powerful  metaphor  of  ministry,  first  to  Christ  himself  as  High  Priest,  and  then  derivatively  to  all  baptized  Christians  .  Rediscovering  the  biblical  priesthood---and  radical  equality---of  all  the  baptized,  has  far  reaching  implications  for  future  theological  and  liturgical  developments.  Seemingly  simple  changes  in  practice  and  procedure  have  led  to  unforeseen  changes  in  theory,  opening  the  door  to  new  possibilities  and  questions  that  demand  answers.  Should  the  church  discontinue  its  ordering  of  'priests'  and  create  an  order  of  'presbyter'?  Should  lay  people  be  authorized  to  preside  over  all  non-Episcopal  celebrations?  How  should  we  express  'radical  equality'?
