요약 : The dissertation argues that both difficulties are only intelligible in light of the hermeneutical issues confronted by the authors of the legal corpus: not only to make an empirical transformation within Judaean ritual and cultic life but to justify that innovation in light of existing textual authority. The Deuteronomists' reform, cultic centralization, patently contradicts the pre-Deuteronomic norm of multiple legitimate altar sites.

요약 : The dissertation demonstrates that the authors of the legal corpus conceal the innovative force of their cultic transformations by exegetical means. In particular, they rework lemmas from the Covenant Code to give them new content consistent with centralization and its implications. The dissertation identifies a range of technical scribal devices employed by the Deuteronomists in this transformative activity: lemmatic citation and recontextualization, Zeidel's Law (chiastic citation), and the repetitive resumption (Wiederaufnahme).

요약 : The dissertation examines three units: the centralization law in Deuteronomy 12, the combination of Passover and Unleavened Bread in Deut 16:1-8, and the paragraphs governing judicial administration in Deut 17:2-7 + 8-13. These units were selected because: (1) they have long been recognized as problematic in composition and structure; (2) solution to their specific problems would have broader bearing for the organization of the legal corpus; (3) in each case, their topical focus could be expected to provide the greatest challenges to the Deuteronomic agenda of centralization.

요약 : The legal corpus of Deuteronomy has long presented numerous exegetical difficulties. Foremost among these are two that concern basic issues of form and content: (1) the sequence and structure of the corpus, that is, the seemingly arbitrary selection of topics, their lack of coherent order, their frequent repetition, and their often tortuous philological structure; and (2) the ambiguous relationship of the legal corpus to the Covenant Code (Exodus 21-23), a text on which it seemingly depends for both content and language but from which it differs in significant ways.
초록/해제
요약 : The results bear broader significance for the organization of the legal corpus and the interpretation of other texts within the Hebrew Bible where authorship involves transforming the formative canon.
