■520    ▼aThe  purpose  of  this  study  was  to  examine  the  effect  of  the  Faith-Based  and  Community  Initiatives  (FBCI)  on  nonprofit,  faith-based  organizations  in  six  rural  counties  in  Arizona.  Faith-based  organizations  in  the  counties  of  Apache,  Cochise,  Graham,  La  Paz,  Navajo,  and  Santa  Cruz  were  queried  to  understand  how  the  FBCI  had  influenced  their  organizations.  The  study  used  a  mixed  methodologies  approach,  blending  quantitative  and  qualitative  research  methods,  employing  a  pragmatic  perspective,  with  an  underlying  deductive  and  inductive  logic.  The  primary  research  question  was  "How  have  the  Faith-Based  and  Community  Initiatives  affected  the  approach  of  faith-based  organizations  in  rural  Arizona  when  applying  for  federal  grant  funding?"  Initially  307  faith-based  organizations  were  invited  to  contribute  with  51  organizations  participating  in  the  final  study.  The  results  revealed  that  the  FBCI  has  not  had  a  significant  impact  on  FBOs  in  rural  Arizona  who  continue  to  struggle  to  find  grant  funding,  whether  federal,  state,  local,  or  private  foundation  monies,  to  fund  their  programs  and  services.
