요약 : In regard to the intercultural theory, Victor Turner's theoretical ritual concepts of liminality and communitas are utilized and applied to the concept of affinity episodes, a theory that is developed by the researcher. This is followed by a biblical ontology that seeks to outline the difference in affinity between the Christian community and non-Christian community. This difference is shown to exist primarily in the restored affinity mankind has with the Triune God and fellow Christians that comes through faith in Jesus Christ. The research suggests that affinity episodes can serve to strengthen this restored affinity in Christ, resulting in covenantal communitas. Finally, the missiological significance of the research findings are portrayed through the historical example of the Moravians Missions Movement under Zinzendorf. Through this example, the research shows that affinity episodes, under certain conditions, can serve to strengthen group identity and purpose toward biblical mission.

요약 : The goal of this research is to answer the question, To what extent and under what conditions, if any, do shared affinity episodes in the Christian community serve to strengthen group identity and purpose toward biblical mission? To answer this question, the research will utilize the intercultural theory of rites, a biblical ontology for affinity, and a historical example of the Moravian Missions Movement that began in 1731 under Count Nicholas von Zinzendorf.
