■520    ▼aCurrent  research  on  premarital  preparation  in  the  body  of  literature  demonstrates  that  this  preparation  is  effective  in  reducing  the  marital  distress  that  contributes  to  divorce.  The  present  research  study  compared  two  premarital  prepara-tion  programs,  the  PREPARE/ENRICH  program  and  the  Engaged  Encounter  program,  and  their  impact  on  marital  satisfaction  using  the  Marital  Satisfaction  Inventory-Revised  (MSI  R).
■520    ▼aResults  indicated  that  marital  satisfaction  was  not  significantly  impacted  by  the  PREPARE/ENRICH  program,  as  compared  to  the  Engaged  Encounter  program.  The  results  indicated  that  further  research  with  a  larger  sample  size  would  be  necessary  to  better  understand  which  program  best  impacts  marital  satisfaction  and  ultimately  assists  in  divorce  prevention.  Future  research  will  also  need  to  include  longitudinal  studies  that  can  provide  evidence  of  long-term  suc-cess  as  a  direct  result  of  premarital  preparation.  Additionally,  research  that  includes  qualitative  data  would  be  important  to  evaluate  the  impact  of  these  programs  on  couples'  overall  martial  satisfaction.
