■520    ▼aThe  purpose  of  this  study  was  to  (1)  investigate  the  relationship  between  self-esteem  and  faith  maturity  among  Christian  adolescents,  and  to  (2)  provide  practical  recommendations  for  youth  pastors  and  teachers,  Christian  parents,  Christian  youths,  and  future  researchers  as  to  why  Christians  should  have  high  self-esteem  based  on  the  summary  and  evaluation  of  relevant  researches  and  the  biblical/theological  perspective  of  the  issue.    For  this  purpose,  chapter  2  discusses  the  following:  self-esteem  subjects  among  adolescents  such  as  academic  achievement,  mental  health,  and  gender  differences  as  it  relates  to  self-esteem,  the  dynamics  of  self-esteem  among  adolescents,  and  self-esteem  and  Christian  faith.  Chapter  3  presents  biblical  and  theological  perspectives  in  the  following  areas  as  to  why  Christians  have  high  self-esteem:  argument  of  Christians  with  low  self-esteem,  grounds  of  Christian  self-esteem,  the  image  of  God,  and  the  new  way  of  living  as  Christians  based  on  Ephesians  4:  22-24.                  Based  on  literature  review  and  theological  integration,  practical  recommendations  and  research  implications  were  suggested  in  chapter  4.  Practical  educational  recommendations  were  suggested  for  youth  pastors  and  teachers,  Christian  parents,  and  Christian  youths.  Future  researchers  were  recommended  to  use  multiple  dimensions  of  religiosity  instruments  such  as  the  Faith  Maturity  Scale  (FMS)  or  the  Spiritual  Maturity  Index  (SMI),  to  include  biblical/theological  perspective  in  their  future  study,  and  to  use  longitudinal  study  in  examining  the  relationship  between  self-esteem  and  faith  maturity  among  adolescents.
