요약 : Studies have found that people who possess resilience, the ability to cope with the impact of stress, are able to cope with stress more easily (Grafton et al., 2010). While the topic of resiliency has been widely researched, the question of how to possess equanimity, or the ability to remain calm in the face of stress, is less well researched. The purpose of this study was to determine whether equanimity, a semantic cousin of resilience, can serve as a buffer to stress adaptation, and in turn enable God's people to cope with stress more smoothly. This study aimed to disclose the effects of relational Christian spirituality, God attachment, and the growth of equanimity, as findings from this study could have potential implications for adult ministries of Evangelical Christians.

요약 : This study examined three domains of literature review in social science and biblical studies: relational spirituality, God attachment, and equanimity. Based on the information uncovered in this investigation, strategies for generating the growth of equanimity were developed. Three significant points were disclosed from the review: (a) people's image of God was governed by their internalized attachment relationships with human figures, yet through the sharing of attachment stories and the engagement of referential activities, they were able to re-form new images of God (Hall, 2007b); (b) the "inner work" of prayer, meditation, and self-reflection was the top factor in the growth of equanimity (Astin et al., 2011a); and (c) equanimity could be reflected through one's relational spirituality with God, others, and self (Phil 4:1-9).

요약 : Three approaches to the formation of equanimity were recommended: (a) develop a steadfast and joyful relationship with God; (b) commit to harmonious relationships with others; and (c) cultivate an "anxious-less" and peaceful relationship with oneself. Suggestions for future studies included: (a) run a program on equanimity growth with the proposed guidelines; (b) do an intervention study to verify the effect of God attachment on equanimity growth; and (c) examine the mediating effect of equanimity and relational spirituality on perceived stress. May this study be an edifying resource for further studies on the growth of equanimity through relational spirituality.
