요약 : The results indicated that for the aggregate, there was a significant increase in measured empathy at the end of treatment. The individuals who entered with the lowest level of measured empathy showed the greatest gains, while those who entered with the highest levels demonstrated a decrease in measured empathy. There were no significant findings from the regression analysis.

요약 : This study evaluated the effects of an empathy-focused group treatment program for incarcerated sex offenders. The sample was 156 male convicted sex offenders who participated in the Sex Offender Accountability and Rehabilitation (SOAR) program from 1999--2001. For this study, a measure of empathy, the Empathy Index (EI), was created to measure the participants' level of empathy at entry and exit. In addition, 14 demographic variables identified by the SOAR clinicians were used in a regression analysis to determine if there were any discernible patterns among the participants' backgrounds or offenses.
