- 요약Findings and conclusion. Scripture literalism and Christian orientation of practice setting were determined to be significant predictor variables for use of Christian guidance techniques by Christian social workers in the research population with Christian clients. This means that those social workers who interpreted scripture more literally and who worked in Christian settings were more likely to use Christian guidance techniques with Christian clients than those who interpreted scripture less literally and who worked in secular settings.

- 요약Procedure. A sample of 200 Christian social workers was randomly selected from the membership rolls provided by the North American Association of Christians in Social Work. Each person selected was mailed a letter explaining the research, a demographic questionnaire, and three instruments: the Christian Orthodoxy Scale, the Scripture Literalism Scale, and the Use of Christian Guidance Techniques Scale. Follow up postcards were sent after two and six weeks to persons who had not returned the instruments. Data collection was ceased after ten weeks when a 70 percent return rate was achieved. Two statistical procedures were utilized to analyze the data. Multiple regression was utilized to analyze the relationship between the use of Christian guidance techniques and Christian orthodoxy, scripture literalism, and level of education. Point Biserial was utilized to analyze the relationship between use of Christian guidance techniques and gender, Christian orientation of education, and Christian orientation of practice setting.
