- 요약 : Chapter 3 argues that Paul uses Habakkuk 2:4b to explain the phrase "from faith to faith," indicating that the Christian life begins with the exercise of saving faith and continues through the exercise of practical faith. Chapter 4 argues that Paul uses Habakkuk 2:4b in Galatians 3:11 to support his argument that sanctification by faith is the natural concomitant of justification by faith. Chapter 5 argues that the use of Habakkuk 2:4b in Hebrews 10:38 is different from the uses in Romans and Galatians. The author's conspicuous omission of a scriptural introductory formula (contrary to his regular practice) and his particular wording suggest that in Hebrews 10:37--38 he is using various portions of the Septuagint version of the Old Testament (including Habakkuk 2:4) freely to form an original exhortation suited to his contextual purpose of motivating the persecuted Hebrews to live by practical faith in view of the soon return of Christ.

- 요약 : The findings of the study support the viability of the thesis, suggest some reevaluation of traditional views on the role of Habakkuk 2:4b in the New Testament, and highlight the significance of citation technique when NT writers use Old Testament texts and phraseology.

- 요약 : The main body of the dissertation comprises four chapters. The first of these, chapter 2, examines Habakkuk 2:4 in its original context. It concludes that the statement "the just shall live by his faith" means that the already justified-by-faith believer is expected by God to face the difficulties of daily life by practical faith, a moment-by-moment reliance upon God to aid him in the trials of life. Thus Habakkuk 2:4b assumes justification by faith and speaks directly of sanctification by faith.
- 초록/해제
- 요약 : The thesis of this dissertation is that New Testament authors employ Habakkuk 2:4b in their arguments in a way that is consistent with its original contextual meaning.
