요약 : In the situation, NCC's ministry shows some significance: (1) High concern about the nature and health of the church; (2) Effective and culturally relevant worship services that appeal to younger non-believers; (3) The pursuit of authentic community for God's kingdom through house churches in the society where community has collapsed; (4) NCC's open, democratic, and tolerant culture and its progressive-reformative values and images that show possibilities to create a "fresh" image of the church in society; (5) NCC's dual membership system which offers an experimental case to enhance the dynamics of NCC for God's kingdom, while opening opportunities for seekers to taste the Christian spiritual journey.
초록/해제
요약 : The purpose of this dissertation is to clarify: (1) the relationship between socio-cultural changes and Protestantism in Korea since the 1990s; (2) how some Christians are responding to these changes in innovative ways; and (3) in what ways the theological concept of being missional can help Korean congregations live out their faith amid these changes. Nadulmok Community Church (NCC) in Korea was selected and researched for a case study. Archival documentations, observations, and 43 interviews, including two with sociologists, were collected or conducted and analyzed.
초록/해제
요약 : The Western Church has failed to appropriately adapt to fresh challenges from a changing post-Christian society. In the context, some Christians have pioneered a new approach which has come to be known as the "missional church." Since the 1990s, Korean Protestant churches have faced challenges similar to the Western Church from a new context of rapid socio-cultural changes, and have experienced stagnation. These include a lack of domestic missiology, cultural maladjustment to a pluralistic culture that values diversity, and a serious deepening of negative impressions of Protestantism.
초록/해제
요약 : This dissertation presents several missiological implications: (1) The need for missional ecclesiology, integrating church and mission in contemporary Korea where contextual evangelism is lacking; (2) The need for Korean Protestantism to study and practice incarnational ministry to reach unbelievers, in the same way as they do in foreign missions, understanding contemporary culture; (3) The need for recovering counter-cultural, authentic, and loving Christian community in a society where individualism is deepening.
