■520    ▼aAt  the  end  of  the  project  time  frame,  Pre/Post-evaluation  Forms  were  sent  to  the  total  sample  population.  Raw  data  was  computerized  and  reduced  to  nineteen  pertinent  items.  The  Bi-nomial  Analysis  Method  was  applied  to  the  median  of  the  measure  of  effectiveness,  which  is  the  percentage  greater  or  lesser  than  the  primary  gross  salary.  The  Null  Hypothesis  as  stated  was  H(,o):  "There  is  no  effect  from  pastoral  counseling  with  families  who  are  encountering  financial  difficulty"  and  H(,a)  "There  is  an  effect  from  pastoral  counseling  with  families  who  are  encountering  financial  difficulty."  The  combined  Pre-evaluation  was  used  to  estimate  the  range  of  the  total  population  at  21.5%  -  57.4%  at  the  99%  confidence  level.  The  Post-evaluation  median  of  the  Study  Group  was  18.4%    showing  they  no  longer  were  within  the  total  population  range.  The  Control  Group  in  the  Post-evaluation  median  remained  within  the  total  population  at  41.2%.  We  must  reject  H(,o)  and  accept  H(,a)  attributing  this  statistical  shift  to  the  steps  taken  in  pastoral  counseling.
■520    ▼aGroup  "A"  had  monthly  sessions  with  the  counselor.  Monthly  evaluation  forms  were  submitted  with  Monthly  Cash  Flow  Charts  upon  which  suggestions  and  recommendations  were  made  to  acquire  financial  balance.
■520    ▼aThe  purpose  of  this  research  was  to  verify  statistically  the  effect  of  Pastoral  Financial  Counseling  in  a  pilot  study  with  fourteen  closely  matched  Navy  related  families  having  financial  difficulties.  Using  library,  military,  government  and  financial  counseling  agencies,  two  study  guides  covering  Biblical  and  financial  management  were  developed  for  input  at  the  Christian  Family  Financial  Management  System  Seminar.  All  families  completing  the  pre-evaluation  had  an  initial  session  with  the  Pastoral  Financial  Counselor  prior  to  attending  the  two-day  C.F.F.M.S.  Seminar.  The  total  population  was  then  divided  into  Study  Group  "A"  and  Control  Group  "B"  using  the  experimental  method  of  research.
